STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Colored Denim

Style Advice of the Week

Brightly colored denim has been trending throughout the year. A splash of color brightens up any outfit, making the overall appearance more alluring. As a student on campus, I have noticed a fair amount of people choosing to wear colored denim this year. One of the most commonly seen colors for denim is maroon, or oxblood, as fashion magazines call it. Maroon is subtle enough that it can be paired with many different colors, but it’s enough color to make an outfit truly standout. During the fall and winter months, colored denim can be a quick and easy way to spice up any outfit.

This Fashionisto pairs his maroon colored jeans with a gray and black cardigan and gray shoes to enhance the color of his pants. The great thing about colored denim is that it can be dressed up or down. While this Fashionisto chooses to keep it casual for his day on campus, he dresses up his outfit nicely with a scarf and suede pair of desert boots.

Although many stores have displayed various colors of denim such as pink, yellow, cobalt blue and orange, stick to colors closer to red or army green. Specific shades of red and green pair nicely with many other pieces and tend to not draw so much attention, yet still catch the eye of your peers. To get this look, try stores like Levi Brand Jeans and Club Monaco for affordable, stylish jeans.
