FASHION FROM ABROAD: Simple, Sweet and Striped

Hello from Prague! I am enjoying my time in the Czech Republic, and I’m beyond excited to be sharing some of the trends I’ve seen with all of you. In my opinion, the street style here is the epitome of chic. The color palette is mostly muted consisting of neutrals, pastels and the classic gray scale. Milky pastels were a huge part of the spring 2016 runway, and now that the weather here has started to warm up, that color scheme is in full swing. I’ve noticed that the Fashionistas here in Prague tend to stick to staple items, and if they happen to be sporting a print, it is accompanied by solid basics.

This Fashionista is studying abroad from N.C. State as well, and having a ball embracing all the styles over here. She has been quick to get her hands on the fun European brands—and truthfully, so have I! I absolutely loved her interpretation of the trends she has spotted. Her sleeveless, mock turtleneck embraces the pastel craze with the perfect blend of warm peach and cool lavender shades. Pairing that fun striped top with her black basics took what could have been a super sweet top, and turned it into something much more sleek.

As always, I love the details—especially these, with their understated style. Braids of all sorts were featured on the runway this season, so I love the way she chose to do simple French braids in order to really play up the perfect little mock neck top.  Along with that exceptional choice, she picked a no-fuss backpack purse because there is truly nothing better to shove all your abroad essentials into for the day while still looking effortless. To top it all off, she added my current personal favorite in footwear. Platform shoes have been resurrected from the ’90s in a big way, and the platform sneaker is alive and well. Here, she opted for a practical sneaker while exploring the cobblestone streets of Prague, but that platform gives it a fun edge while keeping her stylish on the go.
