BEAUTY BAR: Just Wing It

I’ve always been someone who has gone with a more natural look for my makeup, but coming to college has given me more of an appreciation and curiosity for bolder looks. In high school, I would just wear B.B. Cream, blush, mascara, and a little bit of eyebrow powder. I never really owned a nice eyeshadow palette nor did I know how to apply eyeshadow correctly. I also didn’t own a beauty blender. Upon entering college, I became more aware of the “Instagram makeup” trend; I watched YouTube tutorials and saw the fearlessness in people’s makeup looks. Wear no makeup to class? No one cares. Put on a full face of makeup with a cut crease? No one really cares either. I took advantage of the openness of my school’s community and one day wore dark purple lipstick, similar to Lorde’s. I eventually purchased some high quality essentials, like the Anastasia Beverly Hills palette. I occasionally would wear a neutral shade to class and go bolder on weekends.

This Fashionista had the perfect makeup look for class. It reminded me of a no-makeup makeup look with just a little more to it. The warm tones of her eyeshadow complement her skin beautifully and make her brown eyes pop. Her winged eyeliner is thin but still adds drama to the look. Her lashes are full and voluminous. She admits that getting them this way takes a couple coats of mascara and some waiting time in between those coats to dry. Her skin looks moisturized and glowy but not oily. I think this can be something that is often difficult to achieve dependent on your skin type and what products you use. This Fashionista says her secret is to glowy skin is face masks and always using moisturizing before applying foundation.
