BEAUTY BAR: Bringing Back the Eye Color

July 10th, 2015 at 2:00am

Think the use of bright-colored eye makeup is outdated? Well, think again! Even though today’s trend focuses on the more natural look, I believe that colorful eye shadow is definitely making a comeback.

The use of colorful eye shadow began in the ‘80s and it was a huge success back in the day. Over time, women became accustomed to portraying a more natural look. However, with celebrities dying their hair with every color of the rainbow, I think that colorful eye makeup is something to try out, as well, whether it is for a day out in the park or a night out at a party.

This Fashionista decided to make a statement with her makeup by using shades of turquoise and purple eye shadow. Those are not colors you see every day, but she is working them! She is styling a white, sleeveless blouse, neon-colored shorts and simple jewelry. As you can see, her outfit is simple and fun for a day out in this warm weather. Nonetheless, the makeup is an essential part of her entire look. Her choice of eye shadow made her stand out from the crowd, and perfectly portrayed her fun and unique personality. Also, the eye shadow colors complemented the colors of her ensemble quite nicely.

By photographing this Fashionista, I learned that you can bring out your inner self not only through your choice of clothing, but also by the way you express yourself through makeup. If what you want to illustrate is a fun, lively personality, then why not bring it out with colorful makeup? Don’t be afraid to experiment and see what you can create.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? Making an ensemble stand out does not have to be limited to just using bold accessories or clothing. Colorful eye shadow is your best friend! To make a statement with her eye shadow, this Fashionista mixes shades of turquoise and purple, such as those from the Urban Decay Electric Pressed Pigment Palette. As for the rest of her awesome makeup, she uses blush and bronzer like the Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette and the COVERGIRL Full Lash Bloom Mascara for her extra long lashes.
