BEAUTY BAR: Beachy Waves

Dealing with your hair in the summer is a tedious job that no one really has time for. Because it is summer, ditch the extravagant and hard to do hairstyles and go with something just a bit more natural looking. My personal summer favorite are those effortless right-off-the-beach, perfectly tousled and beachy waves. The best part about this look is that it’s meant to be a little messy, so there is never just one perfect way to create it.

This Fashonista works the beachy waves to perfection. Her oversized flannel, paired with a simple pair of blue jean shorts and a white blouse pulls her look together, and makes the perfect outfit for a cloudy day at the beach. If you spend any time at the beach in the summer, you probably know that on cloudy beach days, it can often feel more like fall than summer because of the chilliness in the air. For this reason, a light flannel is the perfect cover-up to throw on before you leave the house.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? To achieve this look, different methods are necessary for different hairstyles. If you have more curly hair like me, I recommend twisting one inch strands of hair tightly, and then running over them with a flat iron to give your hair more of a smooth wave. After doing so, I use my favorite sea salt spray to give my hair that extra bit of texture. If you have straighter waves like this Fashonista, than not much needs to be done to achieve this look (lucky you). She simply adds a little bit of sea salt spray, and will occasionally leave her hair in loose braids over night to give it a little more wave.
