ALL IN THE DETAILS: Mixing Patterns

Mixing patterns can be something that many people find difficult to do. It can be scary because you don’t want the patterns you’re mixing to come off as costume-y. To make mixing patterns simple, this Fashionista found a romper that did the job for her.

The pattern on this romper isn’t overdone because, even though the top and bottom of the piece are different, the colors and pattern are cohesive. Rompers are a simple solution for when you need to look like you put a lot more thought into your outfit than you actually did. Rompers have become very popular in the last few years and I love the versatility they have. In this particular look, I love how this Fashionista threw on a comfy cardigan in a neutral color so that it didn’t take away from the colors of the main piece. This outfit would be great for a family party! Switching out the sandals for some cute wedges would also step this outfit up for when you’re hanging out with friends or finally meeting the boyfriend’s parents.

The colors of the romper are so summer-y and perfect for daytime, but still relatively dark enough that you easily wear the piece into the night. Rompers are great for when you just need something quick and easy to wear. Even though they have quickly come into popularity in the last few years, I don’t think they’re going anywhere for a while.

How To: Want to try your hand at mixing patterns but don’t want to invest in a new romper? Look in your closet and pair patterns that have similar color schemes. When choosing shoes, pick something neutral with no extra patterns on it.
