My name is Ali Stagnitta and I’m thrilled to continue my work at CollegeFashionista for spring 2013! I’m a freshman at George Washington University and will be reporting on the latest trends from the nation’s capital.
Coming from a very athletic-oriented family, where the most acceptable and popular outfit consists of sweats, it’s taken me a long time to spread my wings and dive into the risks and diversity the fashion world has to offer. Since my senior year of high school I have indulged in the creative racks of Urban Outfitters, the preppy universe of Ralph Lauren and the extravagant, unbeatable worlds of Henri Bendel and Bergdorf Goodman. Recently, I’ve channeled my inner Blair Waldorf and Carrie Bradshaw to fill my jam-packed wardrobe!
My latest obsession is hats. I love rocking a fedora on the beach or a baseball cap to the gym. A hat can always add some flavor to any outfit. I’m also a heels maniac. Steve Madden, Sam Edelman, Chinese Laundry—you name it, I love it. If you can walk in them without looking like you’re going to fall over, I will always say go higher with the heels! My style may be all over the place, but in each outfit, no matter where it’s from, I’m filled with confidence and poise. That’s what makes a Fashionista stick out to me. I truly believe confidence is the most important ingredient to complete a look.
Throughout these past few years, fashion has become a part of who I am. It’s made me into a self-assured, risk-taking Fashionista. This semester I promise to find all of the best fashion on GW’s campus and show you the trendiness and spunk the students have to offer. While you may think differently, I’m a firm believer that the district is not all about politics; it’s about how you look while working in politics.
