STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Cap It

Style Advice of the Week

I have a confession to make. I cannot accessorize to save my life. While I do recognize an outfit with great accessories, I myself simply don’t take the time to put together a proper collection of cool, eclectic jewelry. I envy people who have a knack for loading on bracelets, watches, hats, scarves, rings and so on. Accessories really can make or break an outfit. So every once and while, I do come across a Fashionista/o that inspires me to add a little flair to my very basic accessory collection.

This week’s Fashionista totally nailed down a chic look by pairing a super rad, colorful beanie with a basic dress and loafers. Adding the hat to her ensemble saved her outfit from looking too plain Jane and allowed her to express a bit of her personal style and personality.

If you’re like me, and you’re inspired by this Fashionista to add some new caps to your closet, my first suggestion would be vintage stores or etsy. These places have a variety of unique hats and you can almost guarantee no one else will have a hat quite like yours.

In my opinion, you can never go wrong with a fedora. It always adds a little extra panache to almost any and every look. With summer around the corner—and beach days in the extremely near future for us Floridians—I have to advocate the use of a sun hat to help you look cool and keep your precious skin safe from the sun’s harmful rays. And if you haven’t caught on quite yet, apparently snapback hats are making quite the comeback.

So next time you’re in a rush to get to class, and your outfit is feeling a little blah, don’t be afraid to wear a hat to spruce it up!
