WHAT TO WEAR: Weekend Wear

If you’re fortunate enough to be studying in a warm, Southern state, can I come visit? Please? For the rest of us, we know it’s really cold. It seems like winter can be boringly filled with neutrals. Don’t get me wrong, I love neutrals! Most of my closest is neutrals. However, it’s always nice to see a bright pop of color on a cold winter day. It reminds us that spring actually does exist and winter will eventually end.

As I spotted this Fashionista on my way across campus her bright mustard yellow coat was practically calling my name. Between the yellow peacoat, green skirt and blue beanie, her ensemble happily stood out next to my black parka. Winterizing your favorite skirt or dress by adding tights underneath is a great way to put a little more effort into your weekend outfit versus throwing on your favorite pair of sweatpants. But if you really want to make an impact, don’t be afraid to mix colors of outwear!

This look is more than perfect for a Saturday coffee run with your BFFs. It’s casual and comfortable, yet still very chic. I particularly love the way the peacoat layers over her skirt so that it is still peaking out from underneath. I am also obsessing over this Fashionista’s handmade beanie. And how fun are the mismatched gloves? So cool!

One Simple Change: Need to take the look from day to night? Swap the boots for your favorite pair of winter wedges or flats and pull your hair into a chic ponytail for a look that is more nighttime ready!
