WHAT TO WEAR: Weekend Wear

After a long, tiring week of fervent note taking and sitting through lectures galore, the weekend is always welcomed with open arms. “Friyay” is a saying for a reason, right? Finally, you get two days when you don’t have to choose between hitting the snooze button one more time or brushing your hair that morning. Heck yeah.

The weekend gives us style lovers a little extra time to primp, put together some stellar outfits and play with different combinations. This Fashionista decided to pull a piece out of her closet that she hadn’t worn for a long time: the kimono. This trend really took off last spring and summer with versions in sheer whites and various boho prints. The kimono stepped into the spotlight, popping up on the racks of fast fashion retail giants such as H&M and on celebrity fashion plates like Vanessa Hudgens at Coachella. However, the dark tones of this particular piece make it perfectly wearable in the colder months. Who says you can’t wear your warm weather favorites into the winter? Move over, cardigans.

She chose a classic lace tank top in a peachy nude to complement the colors in the kimono without making the ensemble too busy. Light wash skinny jeans cleverly balance out the swingy proportions of the kimono while keeping the outfit perfect for daytime. Finally, suede black wedges tie back into the color scheme while dressing up the outfit, and a few golden bangles add a touch of boho to the look.

This Fashionista is dressed and ready for a day off from class. The ensemble is perfect for an afternoon movie, some light shopping, lunch with the girls or even running errands around town. You can go from point A to point B while being comfortable and cute. You go, girl.

One Simple Change: Want to take your weekend look from day to night? Swap out the light wash jeans for a pair of black skinny jeans for a perfect party look. Swipe on some dark lipstick, grab your favorite clutch and you’re ready to hit the dance floor.
