WHAT TO WEAR: Vacation

‘Tis the season for creating those crisp tan lines and relieving stress by basking under the sun on beautiful white, sandy beaches—also known as a day in the life of a Floridian. Seasons in the Sunshine State are often tough to differentiate because it all seems to mold together into one season: summer. Fortunately, us Floridians have mastered the skill of dressing for temperatures as high as three digits. So while you’re rummaging through your closet and packing for perhaps the best vacation of your life, keep in mind the fierce heat you might encounter on your stay.

One way to beat the heat is by dressing in cool colors. This summer is all about the blues, so why choose between indigo, teal, navy or aqua, when you can wear them all? Often times we are told “matchy-matchy” is unappealing to the eye, but I disagree. Monochromatic looks have become one of my favorite styles this season and it can be easily achieved if done properly.

This Fashionisto nailed this monochromatic ensemble by incorporating some cool colored vibes with tropical patterns. The lightweight floral T-shirt makes for a good go-to shirt for the warm summer weather, which he paired with teal shorts and Vans. To balance out the bright blues, he ties the look together with a navy snapback and some fun flamingo patterned socks.

Packing shouldn’t be a stressful task. Whether you’re cruising to the Caribbean islands or just making a day trip to the nearest beach, leave it to the Floridians to fashionably guide you to your summer destination.

One Simple Change: Ditch the hat and trade the teal shorts for a pair of khaki pants as this subtle change can make the outfit appropriate for a formal day time outing like a brunch date with the family.
