WHAT TO WEAR: Internship

So you spent all of spring semester perfecting your resume, going on interview after interview and waiting for the offers to roll in…and it all paid off! Now summer is in full swing and so is your summer internship, and your main concern has switched from wondering if you have a summer internship to what to wear at said internship.

I know I have trouble deciding what to wear on the daily—and that’s without the restrictions of a more professional dress code. Then you add on the pressure of dressing for the higher temperatures, WHILE being trendy and stylish and suddenly you’d rather stay in bed and binge-watch House of Cards instead of head to your internship in a less than stellar outfit.

Don’t punch in your Netflix password just yet though; this Fashionista maintains a look that is both stylish and professional with her fun, colorful ensemble. Please keep in mind, however, that her outfit might not work for all internship environments.

Her sherbet orange pants are her standout piece. Don’t they just scream summer? They add a dose of brightness and personality, but still suit her more laidback workplace. She pairs the pants with a classic, the striped shirt, which is updated with stripes of varying colors. The blue stripe naturally complements the orange pants. This Fashionista also keeps her accessories sleek and clean—they add the perfect amount of shine to her look. She layers her two personalized necklaces of varying lengths together to add subtle visual interest and adds a watch for both functionality and arm candy. Finally, she ties the look together with her extremely weather-appropriate black espadrille wedges. Also, no work outfit would be complete without a work bag so a navy hold-all tote is necessary to carry this Fashionista’s planner, lunch and other internship necessities.

One Simple Change: If you’re heading straight from work to ice cream with your friends, switch out the espadrilles for sandals and throw your phone and wallet into a crossbody bag. Then, relax after a long day at work and spend some quality time with your friends!
