WHAT TO WEAR: Internship

July 7th, 2015 at 2:00am

Along comes summer and that means fun in the sun, but it also means responsibility for those who are soon graduating from school. Those responsibilities could include a summertime job to refill one’s bank account that they may have splurged during spring break, as well as an internship to gain further work experience and connections throughout the summer. With a new internship in sight you want to make sure you make the best first impression. I believe the first thing your boss or even people in general will notice about you is how you represent yourself. Therefore, make sure you have a killer first day look and make sure to always keep it fashionable even on those casual Fridays. One may get nervous when deciding what to wear on the first day, and like me, revolve the whole day before around picking the perfect “first day” outfit. Well, I have good news for you: that’s what I’m here for. Battling between keeping your outfit business casual and dressy can be a tricky one, but here is how this Fashionista did it!

This Fashionista pulled off her business casual look by keeping her color combo neutral. The navy body con skirt combined with the lighter blue tank top complement each other without being too “matchy matchy.” Adding the cream colored blazer to her look lightens it up a little bit and brings color and shine to her face. By adding a blazer or sweater to your internship ensemble insures that you will not only be warm during those cold office morning meetings, but you will also be prepared if the internship you have requires you to dress a bit more professional. This Fashionista included a layered necklace and some stackable Alex and Ani bracelets to add some bling. It is essential to always have a pair of nude heels in your wardrobe at all times whether or not you have an internship or not, nude heels can be used at any time. Remember, when you have an internship, don’t stress about dressing up for it! Just have fun with it!

One Simple Change: If you are thinking about going out after your day at the office to release some stress that may have accumulated throughout the day simply get rid of the blazer and tank top. Instead add a crop top to go with the body con skirt and pair of more colorful and fun heels.
