WHAT TO WEAR: Internship

January 30th, 2015 at 2:00am

As January is coming to a close, things are simultaneously settling in and gearing up! This means everything from classes and clubs to opportunities such as internships starting. Walking around campus at Marist, it can be tricky to find someone who is not running off to something amazing. Everybody is involved in a million different things, and it tends to be an incredibly ambitious group of people settled into the lovely Hudson River Valley. This Fashionista was no different! I caught her on her way to an internship and just loved the way she managed to instill her sweet fashion sense into an entirely work appropriate outfit.

If your internship does not call for a strict dress code, allow for yourself to have fun with your outfits. It will make every early morning a little more bearable, and you’ll enjoy your days working even more if you feel confident in what you’re wearing, too. Color is one of the best ways to do this, even with a more restricted dress code. This Fashionista chose a lovely green dress from Madewell that is not at all overwhelming but pretty enough to stand out in all the right ways. The dress itself is conservative and not at all boring. Just because you have to uphold a dress code does not mean you have to stop having fun! Embrace textures and interesting details just as this Fashionista did, and you will be the star of the office in no time.

Accessories are also an amazing way to add some individualized flair to an outfit while still maintaining the standards you are expected to uphold. This Fashionista complemented her outfit perfectly with a few key items. She added an unexpected pop of color with a cranberry Ivanka Trump purse that mixes with her green dress in such a way that is cohesive but so rich. Her lovely gold jewelry adds an understated finishing touch to the outfit that is composed and personal. Her brown riding boots are functional as well as fashionable, getting her through any tasks she might face at her internship with ease, comfort and style.

One Simple Change: This outfit is so incredibly versatile. If you have happy hour plans or are heading to a nice dinner after your day interning, simply throw on some pretty heels or statement booties and a swipe of bold berry lipstick, and you will be all set to take on the town!
