WHAT TO WEAR: Formal

When you typically think about rush/recruitment, you usually think of summer. The weekend before school starts you head back to your home away from home and get ready to meet hundreds of girls. However, if you attend a school like Augustana, you have rush right after winter break. The first part of rush is more casual wear and the second part is formal wear. On this occasion one wears an outfit that would be like going to any other formal event like a wedding or a cocktail party!

As great as it is to rush after you’ve acclimated to your college life, it’s not so great when you have to pick out something to wear that’s not only going to showcase your personality, but also be weather appropriate and formal enough for the occasion. There are a couple of key fashion tips that this Fashionista did in order to look put together. My first piece of advice when picking out a formal look in the winter is to add some color. Adding color to your look like a burgundy dress instantly makes you stand out from the crowd. But if you’re like me and love rocking all-black, stick with what makes you feel comfortable; just make sure to accessorize. Adding some great accessories, like you see above, is a great way to add a personal twist to your look. Huge statement necklaces  will definitely leave an impression. The last thing you should do to finish your look is find a great pair of shoes. This Fashionista rocks high heels that make her legs look like they go for miles. Heels might not be for everyone, so instead try opting for some flats or even riding boots to tie the look together.

One Simple Change:  The great thing about this look is that it is so versatile! You can take this look from a formal event like rush to a girl’s night out. By simply putting on some booties, a leather jacket and adding a longer slim necklace, you’ll instantly have a cute outfit to go out in that night!
