WHAT TO WEAR: Class

Lately, the weather has been totally unpredictable. One minute it’s ice cold outside and the next it’s as if spring has sprung already. Nevertheless, when the weather gods give us a warm, sunny day in the middle of winter, we definitely have to break out our summer’s best.

This Fashionista couldn’t wait to trade in her heavy winter jacket for the ultimate summer dress. This look is chic enough for class but comfortable enough to wear while traveling across our huge campus. What I love most about this dress is that it is an updated take on two classic staples of American fashion: button-down shirts and denim.

Button-down shirts are generally worn in the workplace. However, when the shirt is oversized and produced in denim, it suddenly takes on a whole new shape. The boxy form of the shirt dress draws attention to our Fashionista’s legs, which counterbalances the long sleeves and high collar. The additional distressed patches and stonewash across the dress give the look a laid back feel.

With the dress as the focal point of her look, her accessories are minimal. This Fashionista’s tan, wool hat is essential to keep the unexpected sunshine out of her eyes, while her white sneakers remain in line with her completely authentic outfit. From head to toe, this style maven nailed her Americana ensemble.

One Simple Change: If winter decides to strike back with another cold front, switch up this look by adding a little warmth. Exchange the bare legs for a thick pair of black tights. As for shoes, try a great pair of platform boot for the perfect trans-seasonal outfit.
