WHAT TO WEAR: Celebration

June 9th, 2015 at 2:00am

If you have a Facebook or are active on nearly any social media site, you can agree that wedding and engagement celebration season is among us. That’s right; it is that time of the year when our friends or old high school mates are tying the knot. So, what better way to take your mind off the fact that you’re single and your “bae” is a container of brownies or “you don’t need no man.” Or maybe you’re in a relationship, but the engagement thing is just something in the future. I’m here to give you inspiration on what to wear to the approaching wedding festivities ahead of yourself! So chin up, it is about to get interesting.

Since wedding celebrations typically have different dress codes or themes that could alter what you are going to or can wear, I will give you basic ideas or styles that would be perfect to wear to typical wedding occasions. For example, one style is the maxi dress.

This Fashionista is showing off her gorgeous and fun maxi dress! The pattern on the dress is beautiful, and of course, when is being colorful ever a bad thing? Depending on where you live, the heat could be an issue. This dress features an open back, allowing the Fashionista to look cute but not feel overpowered by the burning sun. Wearing a simple maxi gives you the freedom of accessorizing or the chance to bust out your killer shoes. With this dress, the Fashionista paired classic black wedges with a cork heel and minimal jewelry. A maxi dress would be the perfect outfit for a wedding occasion because it has a formal look to it and a lot of them are designed specifically for wedding celebrations. If the wedding occasion you’re attending is going to be more formal, you could always search for a navy or crème maxi dress to give off a more elegant look.

If a maxi dress isn’t for you, I think a great alternative would be to wear a mini dress. Mini dresses come in multiple styles and fabric options that can work with whatever style you need. Whether it be a high neck, strapless, patterned or plain mini dress, there are many different styles to choose from to best suit your body type. I absolutely swoon over a strapless silk chiffon dress and think it is the ultimate wedding-appropriate look. Pairing this look with simple strappy heels, which are totally in right now, would be adorable.

One Simple Change: If the wedding celebration is at night and you have work during the day, put your hair into a low, messy bun and pull out a few pieces framing your face. Another tip is to fishtail your hair into a side braid. The simple fix of your hair and your look will be totally transformed and wedding ready!
