WHAT TO WEAR: Brunch

Being a college student, I am always on the go and am constantly busy. If I am not locked away on the third floor of the library studying, I am going back and forth between rehearsals and e-board meetings for my school’s film club. Because it is always so hectic during the week I live for the weekends. I have a few key phrases I associate the weekends with: sleeping in, Netflix, mimosas and most importantly—brunch!

I love a good brunch! It combines breakfast and lunch creating the best of both worlds food wise and it is a great time to catch up with friends. When I was walking around campus, probably thinking about brunch and mimosas, I spotted this super chic Fashionista. Her outfit caught my eye because it is really cute and trendy, but really easy to wear and put together. I am all about comfortable loungewear on the weekends, but at the same time, I like the novelty of getting dolled up. This Fashionista’s outfit is an ideal brunch outfit for me.

My favorite part of this Fashionista’s outfit is her corduroy skirt. Skirts are similar to jeans in the sense that they are incredibly versatile. This skirt in particular is a great key piece to have in your wardrobe because it is a neutral color, meaning you can pair it with just about anything and the texture of the corduroy adds dimension to an outfit. She paired her skirt with a red turtleneck short sleeve shirt. Depending on the weather, you can wear a long sleeve turtleneck shirt instead. This color is amazing for the fall and wintertime because the red is so bright and warm. I love warmer colors during the wintertime because it brightens up a dreary day.

As a boot junkie, I really responded well to her black combat boots. Combat boots are cool because they are comfortable and can go with a lot of different kinds of outfits. I am all about having pieces in your wardrobe that can be used for multiple looks. She finishes her outfit off with a pair of black tights, a red scarf and a funky necklace. She also included an oversized jean jacket. This jean jacket is great because it provides warmth if needed and really pulls the look together. I definitely need to invest in a jacket like this because I would wear it all the time.

This outfit is brunch appropriate for sure. It is comfy enough that you don’t mind saying no to your loungewear. It is put together enough that you maintain a cool and fashionable vibe. You really can’t go wrong with a look like this!

One Simple Change: Swap the jean jacket for a fitted black blazer and put on some heels to rock any class project or presentation. By doing this, you maintain the edgy and cool vibe of the original outfit but add a bit of professionalism into the mix.
