WHAT TO WEAR: Back To School

As the summer nears and the sun beats hotter, us college students all look forward to the end of classes and those ever so famous words: “School’s out.” However, there are those few brave souls that bear the scorching heat and commute to take summer classes. Well, it’s back to school time in the summer and Fashionista/os at the Fashion Institute of Technology are sure to never let their style suffer. This Fashionista embraced the hot summer day with an edgy yet relaxed look that kept the heat level down and the style level high.

The key element of this look is the ripped boyfriend jeans. Boyfriend jeans scream comfort and relaxation without looking sloppy. Pairing the boyfriend jeans with a more sophisticated white button-down blouse keeps this look cool, both temperature and style-wise. The black accessories, including the round sunglasses that she chose to wear, really added some edgy elements without being too  overwhelming. Many people are oftentimes too afraid to pair two loose fitting items together in a look; however, they provide a certain level of comfort and also give off a cool bohemian vibe.

This Fashionista’s accessories had little style elements within them that made them truly unique. The black shoulder strap bag had white lacing detail along the edge of the flap, which adds interest without being too overwhelming. The black ankle strap sandals were simple but sophisticated and allows for great detailing with the mix of materials. All of these elements combined truly helped this Fashionista make her first impression on her first day back to school this summer!

One Simple Change: So you’ve finished your long day of summer classes at school, and now you want to go relax and get some dinner with friends. Switch out the boyfriend jeans for a skirt (either a short mini skirt for an edgy look or a long maxi skirt for a more bohemian look), and you can transition your school look to a comfortable girl’s night out-appropriate look.
