STYLE GURU STYLE: Winter’s Still In Session

In 1889, after spending years making clothes for his daughter, Marie and her friends, Jeanne Lanvin began a legacy. After a slow cultivation of his brand, Lanvin is now one of the most recognizable fashion houses in the world. With 125 years of designs under its belt, Lanvin has made a name for itself in the fashion world. During their spring 2015 ready-to-wear show, they really showed exactly why perfection takes time.

The collection featured long, elegant dresses, chic menswear cuts and bold-patterned prints that would make any Fashionista drool. The attention to detail and stylish simplicity that current head designer Alber Elbaz shows really cements how Lanvin is a force to be reckoned with.

After looking through the collection, I came across a design that really piqued my interest. Being a lover of prints myself, look number 46 of the Lanvin spring ready-to-wear collection drew me in. The long, metallic trench coat paired elegantly with a sheer black top and patterned floral skirt was a match made in heaven. The muted tones of the outfit also helped make it more wearable for the everyday woman.

I’ve decided that although it is from the spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, I could take this fantastic look and transition it into the current season due to the fact we still have a few more weeks of winter. Everyone is ready for winter to end and spring to be in session, so take this look as an inspiration to stay up to date on what’s trending. I love the mix of different patterns and vibrant colors in this outfit. I, too, had a long wool coat with multiple patterns and patches involved. I paired it with a different patterned skirt underneath but kept the base tones black so that the coat would be the main focus of the overall look. The KORS Michael Kors scarf adds to the motif. I completed my look by deciding to throw in a fedora that wouldn’t be too much but just adds enough flare.

Get My Look: 1. A vibrant, long jacket. 2. A patterned skirt. 3. Floppy fedora.
