STYLE GURU STYLE: Wear Your Blanket

The Burberry Prorsum ready-to-wear fall 2014 show was one of the first runway shows to sport the blanket trend. This collection featured lots of flowing silhouettes with an array of colors and patterns in muted tones. Most of these flowing looks were cinched at the waist with a thin belt to add shape, while still looking effortlessly chic. But then it came to the traveler-inspired poncho cape that was free flowing and, not to mention, looked extremely comfortable. What made me love these designs was the graphic prints that were uniquely grouped into a sophisticated aesthetic, creating a feminine and fun ensemble.

Today, I threw on my newest addition to my wardrobe—my fringed cape. I have to say this is a great way to stay extremely warm, cozy and fashionable. I needed something cute and warm because I was on campus in the library studying, grabbing lunch and walking around. I just love the neutral color, and the fringe adds a fun detail that took my outfit to the next level. I paired it with my striped navy and white T-shirt and a statement necklace.  For pants, I put on a pair of comfy black leggings, and completed the look with a low messy bun and black booties.

This fall ready-to-wear show inspired me to try something new like this cape and to find pieces that were comfortable yet give that effortlessly chic look we all long for. I will definitely keep up with this trend during the winter. Bonus: it is super easy to pull off for any body type.

Get My Look: 1. A fringed cape. 2. The essential striped T-shirt. 3. A cute statement necklace.
