STYLE GURU STYLE: Two Looks Are Better Than One

Remember at the beginning of the semester when I told you how I wanted to reinvent my fancy pieces for daywear? Well, I still do and I’m back showing you how I wore my oxblood (still obsessed with that color) chiffon skirt around campus in not one, but two different ways! I was inspired by two looks from Rosie Assoulin’s most recent collection.

Look 26 is the more traditional way of wearing a long, high-waisted skirt. The blouse is simply tucked in. The color of the stripes in the sweater match the color of the skirt perfectly. I kept the outfit grounded by adding simple black loafers. The hat is still something I’m trying to incorporate into more of my outfits and I think it looks wonderful with this one.

I took Look 20 and added my own twist to it. I’ve seen the dress over pants trend for a while now, but never really cared for it. I then realized that if I switched the pants out for a long skirt, it would mimic a mermaid style dress! Little did you know that the sweater I was wearing is actually a dress itself, so I just untucked it.

It’s important to experiment with your wardrobe because you never know what cool outfit you’ll come up with. Also, if anyone tries to tell you that you can’t wear skirts when there is snow on the ground, get rid of them because you don’t need that kind of negativity in your life. If you are a little concerned about the cold, feel free to slip on a pair or two of nude tights underneath your skirt!

Get My Look: 1. A simple sweater dress. 2. A long high-waisted skirt. 3. A floppy hat.
