STYLE GURU STYLE: Turtleneck Tops

Pre-fall 2015 has officially debuted. It should come as no surprise that the Valentino show was effortlessly flawless. With new designers collaborating for this season’s show, we were left with a fresh take on the runway. With floral prints and feminine flares, the Valentino collection radiated a peace-and-love vibe. Many of the pre-fall runways featured gave us the return of the turtleneck, Valentino included. This particular look from the show left me with my style juices flowing. I felt ready to curate this runway ensemble into a more practical outfit.

For me, there is nothing quite like anything that involves black, jeans and a great pump; naturally, I took the runway look and interpreted it into my style. In keeping with the turtleneck trend, I paired my favorite black turtleneck with a pair of dark wash jeans and a classic black pump. My turtleneck is great because, unlike the typical fitted style, it takes on a looser fit with a dolman sleeve. I accessorized with bold gold jewelry and a simple black clutch. This look is so simple, and could be worn on multiple different occasions. Although it’s a simple look, my bracelets, large hoop earrings and black patent leather pumps spice up the outfit without having to do much.

The overall ambiance of the Valentino show was, as mentioned, peace-and-love, but also 1960s-inspired. When putting together the complete look, I tried to embody a modern day take on the decade!

Get My Look: 1. A basic black turtleneck. 2. A gold statement cuff. 3. Classic black pumps.
