STYLE GURU STYLE: The Wools of Winter

With the middle of winter finally setting in it can be hard to find the motivation to get out of your warm bed, turn off Netflix and finish your to-do list. This winter running between classes and work has never been so stylish thanks to the DKNY fall 2015 runway show. What I love about this collection is the use of long jackets worn over dresses, skirts and tops creating boxy silhouettes. Neutral colors combined with an occasional pop of color work together to create a sense of cohesion between the looks. The girl-on-the-go is the inspiration behind this collection, and what a perfect muse to translate into the life of a Fashionista. The cold winter season will not stop us from leading our busy lives.

What I love about winter is being able to wear long wool coats. It is the only way I am able to stay warm this time of year as I run between classes and my job at a coffee shop on campus. These jackets are perfect because you can pair them with nearly any outfit, and use them to make a stylish statement. These jackets are available in neutral colors for those who prefer a classic look or bold patterns and bright colors for those who care to be daring. Wearing a soft pink or nude colored jacket with light-wash jeans, nude heels and a white T-shirt can create a simple but fierce look. If you are going out, pair a bold patterned jacket with a simple black or maroon colored dress and let the jacket become your statement piece. Whether you leave it open, buttoned up or draped on your shoulders you can wear a jacket like this all night long. A long wool jacket is a timeless winter coat that you can wear to complete any outfit.

My favorite way to style a simple tan wool jacket is with a comfortable sweater, leggings and ankle boots. I always complete my look with a scarf and this season I am in love with blanket scarves. Pairing this warm jacket with a perfect plaid blanket scarf ensures that you will stay warm and stylish during these cold winter months.
