STYLE GURU STYLE: Sugar, Spice And Everything Nice

Chunky braids and summer heat waves. This week, I’m channeling Jhenè Aiko in an all-natural getup. No makeup and no spectacle. Just a little mascara and light wind in the woods. I attempted a softer take on Roberto Cavalli’s spring 2015 line. Models in free-flowing maxi dresses glided down the runway wearing platform sandals. Sweet and simple. It was beautiful.

Speaking of sandals, did you get a good look at my Birkenstock inspired flats? I love how the bright coral color of the straps compliment my honey brown skin tone. Believe it or not, I actually scored these sandals at one of my favorite thrift stores for ten dollars! They’re just as comfy as they seem. To continue the thrifting trend, I also picked up the paisley printed clutch from a second hand store. Who knew that two dollars could look so cute?

Just my luck, it started to rain some when I was frolicking happily outside. My long braids got a little frizzy from the humidity but, I must admit. I like the messy look. The black lace dress is B. Darlin brand. Long slits down the side of the bottom create a heap of wiggle room for comfort. My rings didn’t come in a set so they don’t match much. That’s fine with me. I think they fit nicely with the easy going feel I’m giving. The emerald one has to be my favorite of course, considering that happens to be my birthstone (May babies stand up).

Get My Look: 1. Lace maxi dress. 2. Flat, thick-strapped sandals. 3. Rings.
