STYLE GURU STYLE: Slipping into Silk

It is official. Silk has taken over the runway and held it captive. Almost every collection from resort 2017 featured some variation of the “silk look”.

Mui Mui’s 2017 resort collection stood out to me the most. The collection inspired me to channel my inner ’90s kid. Mui Mui’s free will and use of silk paired with other fabrics allowed for endless opportunity while creating my look. Inevitably, I was motivated to combine pajama-dressing and pastels with an edgy intergalactic vibe.

The centerpiece of my look became a pastel pink silk slip, because what would pajama-dressing be without a silk slip? To add structure to my outfit, I wore a boxy white t-shirt dress underneath the slip. I feel as though the t-shirt dress was crucial in adding dimension to such a feminine look. To accessorize my outfit, I wore a choker with crystals and pastel blue beads. I layered the choker with a set of silver necklaces. One of my favorite style tips is that I tend to keep my jewelry minimal so that I do not over accessorize. I try not to wear bracelets, necklaces and big earrings all at once if I am going for a more functional appearance. To complete my look, I finished it off with my favorite pair of black heeled boots.

Countless things about the ’90s are back, and I am loving it. Mui Mui’s “’90s culture” collection taught me to not be afraid to express myself and to have fun while doing so!
