A look that is taking the fashion world by storm; the boyfriend trend is possibly one of the most widespread and sought after looks in fashion right now. One of my favorite new fashion discoveries is the brand 6397. This brand is all about having a “boyish spirit, effortless style, restrained color” and being “minimal, free of decoration and unnecessary detail.” In this spring 2016 ready-to-wear show the collection represents simple, chic and neutral looks based on monochromatic and neutral denim looks.
The 6397 collection reminds me of a sophisticated street style that rules New York, Paris, London and some of the other fashion capitals. I believe all the clothing is so effortless and neutral, while still being able to look sophisticated and elegant.
I found this collection (and the brand as a whole) appealing because it is perfect for what I see most young students wearing throughout campus. Outfits that are comfortable, simple and cute all at the same time are what many students strive for when picking out their clothes. I find that more often than not, I am wearing jeans and some sort of neutral colored top, or an all black ensemble. This brand is all about the classic pieces that are timeless and can be worn with everything. I have been trying to turn my wardrobe into somewhat of a more minimalist and simplistic one. I have found that pieces that are neutral and basic are what I gravitate towards.
The “boyish” fit that 6397 strives for never ceases to look elegant and effortless. There are so many different ways to wear a boyfriend-like piece. It’s important to balance these pieces with more fitted items to make sure the look is stilled pulled together. I found inspiration in the collection and put it into my ensemble with the neutral top and sweater paired with jeans. The shoes were just a bit of a fun twist on the outfit, just to add in my personal style. Overall, I find inspiration in the whole collection by being able to put together neutrals and having an outfit that is appropriate for nearly every situation.
