STYLE GURU STYLE: Romantic Bohemian Wonderland

With temperatures dropping and the sun setting at 5 p.m. it’s normal to feel the winter blues. Luckily, Vogue has us covered! Spring 2016 fashion is in full swing and can lift spirits while the weather is not so nice!

This week I am excited to update you on style from one of the most coveted designer fashion shows for spring 2016 ready-to-wear—Alexander McQueen! Practically coming out of an earthy, bohemian wonderland, this collection features nature-inspired lace, prints and ruffles in subdued colors. The hues vary from forest green and deep maroon to cream and dark shades of black. Lengthy skirts, dresses and trousers dominated the show while some ‘70s inspired elements were revealed with each ensemble’s free-flowing silhouette and chunky heels. This collection brings the romantic, earthy allure of the forest to the runway.

To get this sought-after, romantic bohemian vibe I combined four of my favorite elements from the show: intricate details, nature-inspired lace, ruffles, boyfriend jeans and chunky heels. The swirling lace neckline of my white blouse hints at nature-inspired romance with its moss-like quality delicately creeping on to the bodice. This creates movement that lengthens the torso while the blouse’s peplum highlights the waist. Boyfriend jeans balance the fitted top’s structure and keep the ensemble free-flowing. Inspired by the boyfriend jeans featured in the Alexander McQueen collection, I styled mine by rolling them up into five inch cuffs. To finish the look I added dark, tiered lace-like earrings and metallic, floral, chunky-heel sandals for a complete ‘70s, earthy appeal.

Hang in there Fashionistas—the winter blues won’t last. Spring fashion is right around the corner!
