STYLE GURU STYLE: Ringing in the New Year with Bell Sleeves

This month’s outfit was inspired by the Alexander McQueen spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. The collection featured a range of muted colors, floral patterns and loose flowing pieces. I have been obsessed with the bohemian trend since it started becoming more and more popular. I would wear nothing but Free People if I could. This collection is beautiful and so for my outfit I took bits and pieces of inspiration from McQueen while adding my own style twist to it.

When you put a shirt on that has huge bell sleeves you can’t help but feel like you’ve been transported back into time. When I first saw this top, the colors and style reminded me of something Twiggy would have worn. I immediately pictured the top paired with a corduroy or camel colored high-waisted skirt. I found one on sale at a local store and knew it would be the perfect match for this crop top. I especially loved how it had button detailing down the front and a cutout pattern on the bottom! If you’re not a fan of skirts, this crop top could easily be paired with high-waisted dark jeans.

Of course, you can’t forget your accessories and shoes! My shoes are some of the comfiest heels I have ever worn, granted they are technically booties, but that’s besides the point. They have been a go-to item for me since the fall and were the perfect style for this outfit! For my other accessories I choose to wear a few simple rings and a beautiful gold necklace with crystals. This necklace is going to be a staple for spring and summer I can already tell, I am obsessed with how it looks.
