STYLE GURU STYLE: Rainforest Hideaway

A couple weeks ago I got the opportunity to attend the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week. I got to see a couple shows and even go backstage! The first show I was backstage for was Christian Siriano’s Congo rain forest themed extravaganza.

For those who don’t know, Christian Siriano won the fourth season of Project Runway and was the series’ youngest winner. Now, his collections are walking during New York Fashion Week! How insane is that?! His collection was gorgeous and I really fell for the floral print looks. So, I decided to use his collection as inspiration for this week’s STYLE GURU STYLE.

You guys already know I do not implement a lot of color in my everyday outfits; however, once I saw this bomber jacket, I knew I had to get it. Bomber jackets have been really in and I actually did a post recently wearing one of my favorite ones. This one, however, is slowly creeping up into my favorites. It’s made out of scuba material and I’m in love with the white accents on the collar, buttons and pockets. It is bright but not too obnoxious, and I feel like I toned down the color a bit by keeping the rest of the outfit pretty neutral.

Under the jacket I wore this white T-shirt tunic. I was definitely getting some Kanye West vibes from this shirt since it is so long and a bit like a dress, but the coolest thing about this T-shirt is actually the back. The back has a huge split from my shoulder blades to the bottom of the shirt. I thought this detail was super dope and made a simple T-shirt a conversation piece.

Lastly, I threw on some light-wash jeans, simply because I thought they accompanied the bomber jacket well. The mirrored heeled pumps were a last minute touch to keep the outfit funky (literally) from head to toe, and we all know shades are a must for me.

Get My Look: 1. The scuba knit floral print bomber jacket. 2. Longline tulip-back T-shirt. 3. Light washed jeans.
