STYLE GURU STYLE: Pretty In Pastels

Who cares if spring doesn’t actually start until the 20th of March? I was ready to bust out my spring pastels this week! I mean, after taking a look at the Zuhair Murad spring 2015 couture collection, who wouldn’t be inspired by the pastel trend?

The Zuhair Murad show was full of gowns with intricate embellishments, flowing fabrics and feminine silhouettes. Each piece was even more beautiful than the next, but the look that stood out to me the most was this one. Not only is this gown absolutely stunning, but it illustrates a major spring fashion trend: pastels. I just love the way the pale blue floral design stands out against the blush pink fabric of the gown, and I wanted to emulate this pretty pastel look.

While I would love to wear an intricate Zuhair Murad gown to my Friday classes, I wanted to channel the pastel trend without appearing overly feminine, so I wore these feminine pastels with menswear-inspired pieces. I paired a light blue and white pinstriped shirt with a trendy pair of distressed boyfriend jeans. I also added a pair of pastel pink flats (which I’ve been obsessed with lately). To complete the look, I wore my favorite silver heart ring.

If you’re like me and you’re obsessed with some spring trends, like floral dresses or bright lip colors, don’t be afraid to break them out a little early in the year. You won’t regret it!

Get My Look: 1. A striped button-down blouse. 2. A pair of distressed boyfriend jeans. 3. A pair of pastel flats.
