STYLE GURU STYLE: Perfect Poncho

I know that I have said this (too) many times before, but London is truly the greatest city in the world. Not only is it known for its stylish inhabitants, but one of the most iconic fashion events is held at the lovely Somerset House twice a year. Deep in the heart of London, on the edge of the Thames River, models, designers, makeup teams and fashion gurus file into the classic venue. Naturally, one of the runway shows that drew my attention was the Burberry Prorsum show, designed by the talented Christopher Bailey. It was named “Patchwork, Patterns and Print” and definitely lived up to the name. He used floral patterns and rich hues to emphasize the fall/winter aspect.

One of my favorite items in the collection was the poncho. They have become extremely popular over the last few months, so I decided to go out and pick one up. Clearly, I have ventured outside of my comfort zone (wearing black and white) and incorporated the trend into my wardrobe. A poncho is the perfect piece for a stylish and comfortable day. It can be easily thrown on over a T-shirt and leggings, with some cute booties. The checkered pattern worked effortlessly with the contrasting maroon hat. I added a cross-body bag and I was ready to take on fashion week.

If you are tired from midterms but still want to look cute, throw on a poncho and everyone will know that you are a force to be reckoned with, not only on exams but on the streets as well.

Get My Look: 1. A black and white poncho. 2. A floppy hat. 3. Cute booties.
