STYLE GURU STYLE: Peek-a-boo Pleats

With New York Fashion Week still fresh in our minds, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to show off the inspiration I took from some of the recent shows. One of my favorites was the Marc Jacobs fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection. A few major elements I noticed throughout the show were the sheer fabrics, plaid prints and pleated details. In addition to those key features, I especially loved how vampy the whole atmosphere was.

The weather still hasn’t made up its mind yet so some days it’ll be really cold, then some are really hot and on others, it’s really rainy. With spring just right around the corner, it’s usually quite difficult to predict the weather. Today there was a little breeze so I decided to bring out one of my recent finds, which I also happen to be absolutely in love with.

Pleats are slowly making a comeback, and I’m surprisingly pretty excited. Having worn a uniform for a large chunk of my life, I never thought the day would come where I actually want to embrace the pleats. I usually don’t wear skirts too often, so this sweater was a perfect way to make the trend more appropriate for my style. It is such a unique piece that features a sneak peak of sheer pleats in the back and can easily be appropriate for daytime or nighttime.

To keep the look pretty casual and also balance out all the black, I paired it with my favorite white jeans. Channeling my inner vamp, I decided to wear my favorite dark lipstick at the moment, which is MAC’s Film Noir. Accessories can really play up an outfit, so I added a fun, mixed metal hand chain as well as a rose gold metallic cross-body bag that is surely an eye-catcher. Finally, to complete the outfit I just kept it simple with black gladiator sandals.

Get My Look: 1. Pleated black top. 2. Rose gold cross body. 3.Gladiator sandals.
