STYLE GURU STYLE: Palazzo Palooza

Created by Australian sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmermann in 1991, Zimmermann is a women’s fashion label specializing in ready-to-wear, swimwear, resort and accessories. Their ethereal, ultrafeminine brand has been brought to SoHo and along with it came the feel of the beautiful beaches of Sydney.

The Zimmermann resort 2016 collection is perfect for a metropolitan New York summer day: comfortable, light and trendy. Zimmermann prides itself in designing simple yet unique clothing. Personally I have never seen a collection like this one and I was surprised by how easily adaptable it was to a college Fashionista’s budget. I definitely recommend that everyone checks out their online store, because it is worth the money you spend and they come up with the best designs that paired with the quality fabric creates a winning combination.

Look 23 in particular reminded me of some pieces from my own closet. As we all know, I love prints and patterns, and the loose pants worn by the model reminded me of my own Forever 21 wide-leg palazzo pants. The great thing about these kinds of pants is that they are made of all different sorts of materials, so even if it is 80+ degrees, you can throw on a pair and be fashionable and light. If you want to show a little more leg, you could try a pair of culottes, which are definitely one of the increasingly popular trends for this summer. Culottes originated in Europe and are akin to the philosophy “hangs like a skirt but is actually pants”. I paired this with my new Abercrombie & Fitch halter cami, which has a high neckline and bowtie closure at the back for ultimate summer comfort. I tied my hair up just the model’s, but I added a headband to mask those pesky flyaway hairs. To top off the outfit, I mimicked the collection’s trend of large statement earrings while also adding my new circular mirror sunglasses, Alex and Ani bangles and a lokai bracelet.

Get My Look: 1. White halter cami. 2. Printed palazzo pants or culottes. 3. Statement earrings.
