STYLE GURU STYLE: Oversized Coats

The J.Crew spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection is filled with mixing and matching, layering, and slightly oversized coats and bags. The collection is definitely subtle, but still totally cute. The collection features floral, traditional Latin American textiles and stripes with neutral, main colors and pops of yellow, blue and green. This line is my go-to inspiration for my summer trends.

I love how this collection makes simplicity look so chic. The models walked down the runway at New York Fashion Week with bold browns, messy buns and bright lips. They also accessorized with big sunglasses, clutches and killer heels that tied the outfits together.

One statement piece that stood out to me was the oversized coat. The best part of these coats are their versatility, you can go from running errands to a lunch date with just a simple outfit change. You can also dress it up with a midi-dress and heels or dress it down with a t-shirt and jeans combo, and still look fierce. My favorite outfit consists of an oversized coat paired with a striped T-shirt dress. The ensemble contains only two items, but it still looks effortlessly cute. Depending on the weather, you can tie the outfit together with gladiator sandals, flats or booties.

When I saw the J.Crew spring/summer collection, my heart stopped. I felt as if someone took my favorite pieces from my closet and put them on the runway. One thing this line has taught me is to step out of my pattern comfort zone. This line is filled with mix-and-matched items and pop of colors. I will surely pick out something new the next time I am looking for an outfit.
