STYLE GURU STYLE : Musical Muse

Music inspires a lot of things in my life, including fashion. From dressing for concerts and festivals, to gaining inspiration from the music I’ve been listening to, lately it’s everywhere. Recently I saw the documentary Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck and since then I have been obsessed with adding a grunge flair to a feminine outfit. We all know that modern grunge is making its come back from slicked back hairstyles to pre-made holes in all of our clothes. Yves Saint Laurent fall 2015 ready-to-wear Collection really inspired me to add a more “masculine” piece such as a plaid shirt or an oversized vintage band tee to a rather feminine fitting dress.

The rocker tees and the ‘90s are coming back in a big way. The easiest way to make your outfit just a little on the edgy side is to add a oversized band tee to a feminine look. The way I incorporated a grunge feel to my ensemble was by putting a vintage mens Rolling Stones Baseball shirt and embellishing it with a statement bracelet. I think it’s in everyone’s best interest to invest in at least one boyfriend style vintage band tee or maybe 10. These items will last you through the seasons and better yet the trends. I chose to tie the oversized tee in a knot on the side to give me more of a waist and a feminine tough to the silhouette, since the black dress tends to drape and not have much shape with a t-shirt over it. To top off this rocker-inspired look I added a pair of platform sandals to bring it all together. This look is great for running around town with friends to even hanging out at your favorite bands concert.
