This is going to sound a bit strange, but I feel most like myself when I’m wearing pastels. Even more so, I have a thing for novelty pieces; I feel comfortable and prefer when my dresses or skirts have prints featuring macarons, unicorns, bundles of flowers or animals. The Oscar de la Renta spring 2015 ready-to-wear line has been giving me major pastel envy and floral pattern inspiration, but frankly, any line with pastels and pretty patterns has me hooked.
An adorable vintage inspired online clothing boutique by the name of Bonne Chance Collections fueled my obsession when I discovered them early last year and I haven’t looked back. Their pieces make up about half of my wardrobe, and the reason is all in their details. Everything they sell is handmade and usually not duplicated; what you’re getting is completely unique and pretty much made just for you! That kind of service always has me feeling super special getting dressed for the day. Their website has continually provided pieces coinciding with my pastel needs, and their newest line launched a few days ago reminded me of the Oscar de la Renta pieces.
This two piece by them is the perfect balance for me, where the simple top allows the attention to fall on the all-over cat print. The minty color of the skirt helps in making your eyes settle on the skirt and not much else because of its vibrancy. The skirt is also sprinkled with cherries, strawberries, bows and flowers to give it a summery vibe that just makes me want to bust out some popsicles and pink lemonade. However, since I didn’t have any ice cream, I opted to pair this outfit with my Nila Anthony ice cream bag to make up for that. Since the skirt and bag share a color scheme, they create a harmonious pairing, so it feels like you can’t have one without the other.
My hunt for the perfect pastel pieces continue as we get deeper into spring and summer. I will never tire of pretty pinks, soft yellows and dresses sprinkled with flowers and fruits.
