STYLE GURU STYLE: Make A Statement

Christmas is over, but winter still stands. It is the season to bring out boots and coats to keep that body warm. Winter could be a tricky season when it comes to dressing to impress. It could be challenging to pick out an outfit that looks cute and warm at the same time, but a statement coat could change everything.

As I was browsing through the year’s fall collections, Jill Stuart’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection has inspired me to collaborate a similar outfit for this season. This collection is filled with so much glam, edgy looks with a lot of A-line silhouettes. Jill Stuart’s fall line heavily focuses on creating a party-girl look with an edginess touch up. As I took a closer took, everything is in detail. I love how the designer chooses distinct fabrics and patterns for her collection to give it a fierce yet feminine look. It varies from the classic corduroy to suede and vinyl fabric. I love this fall collection, and it has definitely helped create my look.

I recreated one of Jill Stuart’s fall collection looks with a few basic items. The first item I picked out was my corduroy A-line skirt. I love this skirt, and I wear it so often because it gives my outfit a ’70s look (my favorite era). Along with that, I wore a simple, V-neck long sleeve shirt tucked inside the skirt to create a subtle style. Then I chose a skinny black scarf to keep the outfit a winter style. I like looping a skinny scarf tightly around my neck to create a chocker look, because it gives the outfit a little edginess.

Next, I chose my very favorite suede heeled ankle boot from Zara to give this outfit a great touch of the ’70s style. I have fallen in love with this boot the first time I saw it, and it is absolutely comfortable to walk in it too. The last thing I picked out to complete my look was the ultimate fur coat. As weird as it might look walking on campus with such a glam item, it gives the outfit a fabulous style and touch up. The coat gave my outfit a winter appropriate finish because not only did it keep me warm, but also worked as a dramatic statement item.

It might seem difficult to pair the “right” clothing or shoes, but don’t let that stop you from trying. Keep in mind, keep an outfit simple, but choose one or two loud items to create a sleek, glamorous look for the season!

Get My Look: 1. Fur coat. 2. Heeled ankle boots. 3. Corduroy A-line skirt.
