STYLE GURU STYLE: Let’s Go On a Walk

When you think summer, you probably think of pools and beaches right? With the sun glaring down on us, a dip in the cool water seems like the way to go. On the other hand, why not try a walk along the beach?

I was inspired by the straw hat and maxi dress in Tomas Maier’s 2016 resort collection; thus, deciding to mix and match his look. His collection is illustrated by simplistic pieces of apparel with an effortless feel. This collection is the perfect choice for a breezy summer look.

When it comes to beating the summer sun, straw hats are the way to go. They are not only light and airy, but they also block UV rays from your face and your neck. I especially love how these hats make you look elegant and stylish in a matter of seconds. It also doesn’t hurt that I bought my straw hat for 100 yen (less than one dollar) at Daiso in Japan.

Maxi dresses are another must-have item when it comes to the summer season. Since they are long and flowy, maxi dresses tend to be breezy and comfortable to wear. In order to match the bright sun, I advise wearing bright and lively colors, such as green or orange. These colors are not only lively, but help add a resort or vacation feel to your overall look.

Worried about getting sand in your bag? Well, I don’t because I use weaved basket bags. The basket bag I own has a draw string at the top to make sure that nothing gets in or out without the owners will. Or you can also get weaved basket bags which do not have an inner lining of material, thus can allow all the sand to leave your bag with only a small shake. Also, weaved basket bags are similar to straw hats in that they both emphasize a breezy summer vibe, which is perfect for a walk along the beach. Last, but not least, the bag is very light; thus, you don’t have to worry about a shoulder aches later in the day.

Now it’s time for you to head to the beach to not swim, but to enjoy the scenery and surrounding area while staying breezy and stylish.
