STYLE GURU STYLE: Leather and Pastels

Leather pieces are known to give off an edgier look to an outfit so when I saw an outfit featured in Ronald van der Kemp’s spring 2016 couture runway show—a feminine look with a pencil skirt and some killer black pumps—I knew I had to style an outfit with my spin on it. The all black outfit featured on the runway was styled with a leather jacket, leather pencil skirt and some black pumps. Taking the edgy feminine leather concept, I decided to style an outfit with my own twist.

I am a total girly girl and love my soft pastels, especially pastel pink. For this outfit I paired a white lace crop top with my new favorite pastel pink suede skirt for a girly date night outfit. To make the outfit a little more edgy I threw on my trusty leather jacket. To finish off the look I accessorized with a pink statement necklace and some gray cut out booties. With the suede skirt, lace top and leather jacket I love how all the different textures look together. The contrast with the girly outfit and leather jacket gives a nice juxtaposition and has to be one of my favorite outfits I have put together yet!

Leather pieces are great way to make an outfit dressier or give it an edgier look. Even though they do have a reputation for a more sexy and biker-chic look, they can be incorporated to fit your own personal style. If you have a girly sense of style, don’t be too quick to shy away from leather pieces. I mean, after all, opposites do attract.

Get My Look: 1. Leather jacket.  2. Pastel colored skirt. 3. Lace top.
