STYLE GURU STYLE: Ladylike Leopard

Anyone who knows me is likely aware of my obsession with leopard print. Over the years I have accumulated a surprising number of items with this eye-catching animal pattern. When I saw leopard featured prominently in Altuzarra’s pre-fall 2015 collection, I knew I had to use the show as my latest source of inspiration. To my delight, the designer channeled the print into elegant designs and made all of the pieces look incredibly classy. In other words, it was right up my alley.

I began my outfit with a formfitting dress covered with the pattern in question. I am obsessed with the warm tint of this dress and think it does a good job of replicating the alluring yet composed vibe that runs throughout the collection. As the major pop factor in the look, the leopard print steals the show and ties the whole ensemble together. I threw on a black cardigan and leather jacket to stay warm and to pay tribute to the layering and tailored jackets that appeared on the runway. Sleek coats and blazers with clean lines were central in the show. My leather jacket has a similar color and matches well with the dress.

As far as accessories go, I knew I needed some fun pieces that looked good without overpowering the dress. I loved pairing this oxblood scarf with matching vampy lipstick, which I think is a nice alternative to the traditional red lipstick and leopard print pairing. I also threw on an amazing pair of leopard patterned earmuffs. Earmuffs have been one of my favorite pieces this winter because they look super cute and keep my ears ridiculously warm.

I tied everything together with an amazing pair of biker boots with shiny gold hardware. The metal accents pair nicely with the dress and with the warm tone of the overall outfit. All in all, I love that I was able to wear not one, but two leopard pieces and still create an elegant, winter appropriate outfit. I will undoubtedly continue to wear this print as often as I possibly can, and I appreciate Altuzarra’s polished take on it.

Get My Look: 1. A leopard dress. 2. Furry earmuffs. 3. Biker boots with gold accents.
