STYLE GURU STYLE: Is It Criminal To Be Minimal?

One of my favorite designers is Vera Wang. She is known for her wide range of elegant bridal gowns and her haute couture bridesmaid gowns. Vera Wang began designing wedding gowns for a small boutique in New York City and within the next decade, she opened her own bridal line, ready-to-wear line, footwear, evening wear, fragrances and even fine china! Vera is such a huge inspiration to me and that is why I chose to do my STYLE GURU STYLE post based off of her fall 2015 New York Fashion Week collection.

Wang’s fall 2015 collection is very minimalistic, which is very much her style. Wang has always been very consistent with her ready-to-wear collections for every season. When her all-black with pops of white collection came down the runway, no one was particularly shocked at the color scheme. What really makes this collection stand out is the different use of texture and fabrics throughout the collection. The fabric choices definitely made a statement during fashion week.

I love the style of this collection. It is very effortless and loose fitting, which is definitely my style. To recreate a look from the Vera Wang collection, I decided to take a plain white sweater and pair it with a black skater skirt. I absolutely adore this sweater because the wool is so cozy and comfort is my number one priority when getting ready for the day. To tie the whole look together, I added a pair of knee-high stockings because there is no way I was going to walk barelegged in this crazy weather we have here in northeast Ohio! In the collection, Vera had most models rocking a pair of black rain boots so my twist on that was pairing my outfit with my favorite black matte Dr. Martens.

Get My Look: 1. A comfy sweater. 2. The most adorable knee high socks. 3. Matte black Dr. Martens.
