STYLE GURU STYLE: Hippie-Chic

Billowy sleeves and laced up blouses. Hippie is the new chic. It’s slowly been making its way back into the forefront of fashion and many celebrity’s wardrobes. Piratety tops and crocheted sleeves will take you and all of your fashionable friends from summer to fall this season. From Charolette Russe to Chloé, the ’70s have come back in a big way. Even if you aren’t usually the bohemian girl in your friend group you can rock all of these new trends.

Recently I’ve been obsessed with Perrie Edwards from the girl band Little Mix and I lust after all of the clothes in her closet. She always looks so put together yet laid back with a bohemian whimsical twist. When Little Mix preformed on the Today Show, Perrie was rocking a super ’70s chic romper with billowy sleeves with crocheted ends. This week I drew my inspiration from Perrie’s performance onsie and the Chloé spring ready-to-wear collection. Having in mind that deep reds, mustards and dark greens are the perfect colors for my hippie makeover I went for a deep red and deep V dress. Embellished with crocheted sleeves that tapper and become their biggest at the bottom. I picked a pair of suede black ankle boots that set them selves a part from the rest because of the unique wooden texture of the heel. Mixing the wooden heel with the black suede really brings out the retro style of the shoe and ties the entire look together.
