STYLE GURU STYLE: Happy Girl

Starting a new year is always the best time to feel 100 percent with yourself. I was going to the beach, and I really wanted to wear something inspired by a runway show because that always makes me feel better about my looks. I decided to check some of Marc Jacobs’ past shows, and I found one that I thought would be the perfect inspiration. The Marc by Marc Jacobs fall 2014 show had a lot of neutral colors, such as gray, black and white with details in red, blue and green. All these colors gave me a perfect base to create a simple but cool look.

During my Black Friday shopping, I was finally able to get a pair of slip-ons with a print that I loved. I had been searching and searching, and I hadn’t been able to find one that suited all my prerequisites (i.e. something that I could use in different occasions with a print I hadn’t seen anyone else wearing and that made me fall head over heels). Well, the winner was, coincidentally, the BMX Marc by Marc Jacobs’ sneaker. Obviously I had to find a way to add them to my look! The neutral colors made it perfect for me to create a base look and let my sneaker be the center of attention.

I’m currently back home (aka Brazil) and the weather is burning hot, so this is also something that played a huge role in deciding what to wear. I had to adapt Marc Jacobs’ layers into something a lot less warm. So, I thought to wear light distressed denim shorts with a gray top. This tone is very good for when you don’t want to draw attention away from the details, given that it’s not so dark as black and not so bright as white. Then, I threw on my perfect slip-ons, which added an even more casual feel to the look. The cherry on top was my clutch! I got this bag as a Christmas gift, and I thought it would be the perfect time to wear it, given that the best way to start a new year is by being happy!

Get My Look: 1. Denim shorts. 2. Gray top. 3. Cool Sneakers. 4. Remarkable clutch.
