STYLE GURU STYLE: Going Pastel

Without fail, the Valentino shows always sweeps me away to a dreamy world. This year’s spring collection hit every color on the spectrum, from staple black and white pieces to bright prints and girly pastels.

The pastel dresses instantly brought to mind blooming cherry blossoms, cotton candy, the Easter bunny and ice cream. All things spring popped up in my head so I wanted to put together something that I could wear for weekend brunch or a shopping trip.

Valentino’s dresses had laser cutouts that made the pastels blend together ever so seamlessly. I will probably be thinking of those dresses in my dreams, specifically this one. For now, I will just work with what I have in my closet.

There was a time in my life when I was in love with studs, and it’s a good thing I had this pink skirt. It went well with my mint blazer, which is the softest thing I own. When I was deciding on a pair of shoes, the Valentino Rockstud flats may have influenced my choice of studded flats. Or perhaps my love for studs is making a comeback.

I had never thought to pair two pastels together but the idea was so genius;I feel like I have done all my pastel pieces injustice by always wearing them with white. The mint and pink combination reminded me just the tiniest bit of a strawberry; the perfect spring fruit.

Even if you still see a blanket of snow on your way to class, it’s never too early to incorporate pastels into your outfit. Let the sweet colors brighten you up and hopefully blooming flowers will replace the falling snow soon.

Get My Look: 1. Mint blazer. 2. Pastel skirt worn my way (or go girly). 3. Studded flats.
