STYLE GURU STYLE: Girl Power

One of the things I love about the Salvatore Ferragamo fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection is how powerful all of the models look. I have always felt that modesty commands respect, but with these pieces, it is more than that. The long coat suits, turtleneck sweaters and cape shawls bring out the executive, commander and superhero in these ladies. It reminds me very much of my favorite TV shows. The return of House of Cards and Scandal, coupled with this collection, inspired me to dress and feel like a powerful woman.

In my look, I have on a black ankle length dress because not revealing too much is one of the first rules of powerful people. I paired this with a shawl to celebrate the superhero in me.  If I had opted for white instead of the ghostly black, I would have been channeling Olivia Pope who happens to be a superwoman herself—“the fixer”. She fixes everyone’s problems as well as her own (like we saw in the last episode).

My favorite thing about this collection is that while each look is strong, no femininity is stripped away. Whether you have on a flowing maxi dress, a colorful fur coat or a lace dress, you can still look like a boss like Heather Dunbar.

The Salvatore Ferragamo collection celebrates women as queens, future presidents and leaders, whose very look commands full authority and respect. That’s definitely something to aspire to!

Get My Look: 1. A shawl. 2. A midi dress. 3. A pair of boots.
