STYLE GURU STYLE: Fifty Shades of Gray

I do not know what is trending more—Fifty Shades of Grey or actual shades of gray? The monochromatic look is bombarding the runways and the wardrobe of all Fashionistas/os. Whether it is street style or classy Céline, the incorporation of shades of one color has been seen in every type of style. Focusing on the spring ready-to-wear collection of Balmain, Olivier Rousteing did an amazing job of mixing sports luxe with clean cut designs. What is great about the Balmain collection is that it is so easy to transition to everyday wear. The minimal colors used makes it easy to pick up any basic piece of clothing and fuse it into a high-end looking outfit. Perfect for a Fashionista/o on the go!

Supporting the release of Fifty Shades of Grey, I decided to put this little look together. Monochromatic looks are great because they make you look so high-end when you didn’t even try. The center piece of my “gray” look is my lightweight boat-line sweater. Going off of that main color, I added more shades by sporting light gray adidas sneakers and a dark gray scarf. To keep it monochromatic, I finished my look with white jogger pants and a long-lined black coat. Who knew trends from the runway can be blended into a packed school schedule?

Everyone can look stylish without having to spend hours choosing what to wear. Basic pieces and colors are in everyone’s closet. Just pick up the ones that are in the same shade and pair them together. It’s that simple!

Get My Look: 1. A lightweight gray sweater. 2. A pair of white joggers. 3. A long black coat.
