STYLE GURU STYLE: Dots And Stripes Forever

In KORS Michael Kors’ pre-fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection, we were wowed by the designer’s use of bold, graphic patterns in a color palette that was very pleasing to the eye. The designer showed off an eclectic mix of pieces that ranged from lightweight dresses to double-breasted coats, lace pants to mink fur jackets and bathing suits to show-stopping gowns.  KORS Michael Kors’ collection had an “all-American” feel with a red, white, blue, black and camel color palette. The neutral color palette paired with the graphic stripes, polka dots, floral prints and bow details created a show that left Fashionistas/os everywhere encouraged to step out of their comfort zones to mix colors and patterns like the designer did.

To translate this luxurious runway collection into a more wearable everyday look, I paired a polka-dot button-down top with a navy and camel striped sweater. I chose dark denim jeans with navy blue loafers and added color in my accessories. With a red statement necklace and red hair bow, the ensemble has just enough color to make a statement while still remaining chic and polished.

This pre-fall 2015 show inspired me to mix patterns in a neutral color palette while adding a fun pop of color. To successfully mix and match patterns, choose pieces that complement each other in color, size and scale of the graphic prints used. This look inspired by KORS Michael Kors’ designs makes a statement while still being casual enough to wear to class!
