STYLE GURU STYLE: Digital Drama

How to sum up the Louis Vuitton spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection… I think I’ll turn to beloved Tron Legacy actor Jeff Bridges when he said, “its bio-digital jazz, man.” In fact current creative director of the house of Louis Vuitton, Nicolas Ghesquière was heavily inspired by the movie, and sci-fi culture in general for his latest cyber looks. The show also included references to cult classic anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, Minecraft and long-running video game franchise, Final Fantasy. The models donned moto jackets, leather gauntlets, strappy platform shoes and lots of metallic embellishments.

To translate this look into a more wearable version for me personally, I busted out one of my favorite leather jackets and paired it with a studded faux leather skirt. Underneath the jacket a light pink, floral patterned lace shirt peaks out, for a hint of classic femininity. A pair of strappy platform heels with rainbow thread embellishing, adds a twist to the all black shoes rocked by Vuitton models. I finished off the ensemble with metallic jewelry, and some star tattoo tights for some added cosmic flare.

As a lover of leather, and edgy feminine styling, this Louis Vuitton show was a huge victory in my opinion. It was initially brought to my attention through reading another Vogue article entitled “Why My Nerdy Obsession With Final Fantasy Is Totally Stylish.” It’s a must read, and a real eye opener.
