STYLE GURU STYLE: Colorful Patterns

Just Cavalli’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection made a strong statement on the runway this year. The fearless usage of bold colors and patterns made the pieces stand out. The reason I use “fearless” is because many of the outfits have more than one pattern! That right, some outfits combine polka-dot shirts with floral bottoms or checkered and striped patterns. The reason this collection didn’t look messy is because, no matter what pattern that was used, the colors always complimented each other. Each outfit had a certain tone to it and consisted of the same colors, but sometimes different tones.

For my outfit, I went bolder than I usually do, especially for winter. My blouse is the most vibrant piece with its royal blue pattern,, and I paired it with a yellow bubble necklace. To give my outfit a winter feel, I kept the color of my other pieces more neutral with a forest green skirt, black stockings, beige ankle boots and a jean jacket. Since the colors I wear are darker in the winter, I stayed within that realm with my maroon nails and plum lipstick. To store my necessities, I added a small black wallet.

This collection inspired me to step out of my comfort zone since I dress mainly dress in neutral colors. Even though the pieces are for spring, I decided to dress boldly ahead of time. This same outfit can even be transformed for warmer weather; just take off the jean jacket, stockings and booties and replace it with strap sandals.

Get My Look: 1. A colorful patterned blouse. 2. A black wallet with small details. 3. Brown ankle boots.
